Abstract

Dental age has been considered, next to that of the bones, as an important parameter for assessing the general development of children, the development of the teeth taking place over a long period. In this respect, the interrelationship between the chronological age and that of the bones was studied in a group of 15 children, divided into 3 groups of 5 children each, diagnosed with different types of rickets: nutritional rickets, hypophosphatemic rickets and vitamin-D dependent rickets. Delay of dental age varried between 5 to 13 months and the delay in the development of the bones varried from 10 to 20 months. In the cases of hypophosphatemic rickets, the delay in the development of the bones and of the teeth was more marked.
