Abstract

The aim of the present study is to present the authors’ experience regarding retropubic radical prostatectomy – a widely discussed and at the same time contro- versial intervention in our country. The particular considerations of the authors regarding some interesting pre, intra and last but not least postoperative aspects are also presented.

The first part of the study presents statistical data regarding retropubic radical prostatectomy in the Oradea Urology Clinic. In the second part the authors present some particular operating techniques as well as some preliminary results from eleven years of experience (270 per total, 171 in the last five years).

The results obtained with this intervention are a strong argument in favour of radical prostatectomy as the gold standard treatment for localized prostate cancer in our clinic.
